Well, here we are; there are only 5 days left in 2013. I can’t believe another year has flow on by!
For me, 2013 marked the third anniversary of my vegan adventure (and my third wedding wedding anniversary). It also brought this little guy into our lives.
I can barely remember what life was like without my fur-baby. He sure made moving to another state in the late fall a lot better! (Going back to work after being home with him for 5 months was heartbreaking. I don’t know how people leave their human babies; the sad look in those eyes. Oy!)
2013 was a bit of light blogging year for me, mostly due to lack of content. My diet has a changed a bit – gotten a bit simpler – which has meant less recipe creations to share with you. I have some ideas on ways to continue to share food adventures with you, though, so that, along with a new blog (so excited!!) should make for some interesting blog posts in the coming months 🙂
To bring this year to a fitting close, I’m sharing a give-a-way with you. Woohoo!!
A few weeks ago, I shared a review of Happy Herbivore’s newest cookbook – Happy Herbivore Light & Lean. Since then, I’ve had a chance to review the entire book – and you’re in for quite a treat!
The publishers of HHLL have graciously offered to send one lucky Veggie V reader (in the US or Canada) a copy of HHLL.
What better way to send out the year than support for your vegan adventure??

This is my first vegan year. It started April 2013 so it won’t be complete until the end of March my birthday. My passion for the animals is stronger. My thoughts are clearer. I am really getting into my running and have already PR’d in the 10K and 5K in just a short time coming back from an ankle injury I suffered in September 2012. My body odors have improved from all avenues. I see things in a more positive light and feel more awake. It was the best thing I could have ever done for my health, the environment, and it’s really made me question what life should really be about. If you’re ever hesistant, don’t be. I thought I’d try it out for a little bit and I’ve never looked back. High carb for the win!!!
Sorry for the late reply, Dennis. I just saw your comment waiting for approval.
Sounds like your had great gains this year. Congratulations! Keep up the good work 🙂

Mine too, Courtney! Can’t wait for spring veggies 🙂
What a handsome cat with a hearty laugh!
Deciding to pursue a vegan path, in practice, after thinking about it for a number of months was a significant highlight for me. But the more salient highlight is having taken significant steps to create a monthly, vegan gathering at Nutrition Works in Granger, Indiana: the Inspired! Vegan Feastival. Will Veggie V crash the party? I hope so but I don’t know- it’s quite a lengthy drive! Although, it might make for a particularly dashing, vegan adventure…
Thanks, Nick! I’ll try to make it 🙂 Depends upon my work schedule – and this winter crazy weather!
Be safe! Hopefully, there will be many opportunities to attend.
My 2013 vegan highlight was two-fold. One was attending the Chicago Vegan Mania for the first time. It was held just a few blocks away from me. The second was adopting, after being 100% vegan since 2006, a more raw and fruit-based low fat lifestyle and getting into the gym 5 days a week.
Great job, Gayle! I’m jealous of your vegan mania experience! Next year, I hope you don’t mind a tag-along 😉
I’ll see you at the 2014 Chicago Vegan Mania Fest, Veronica! Be there or be square 😀.
The highlight of my 2013 was drinking green smoothies everyday and eating more kale / spinach / collard greens into both my mom’s diet and mine. We both loved the portobello mushroom recipe in HHC that we had it again for dinner last night. And my mom was able to have her first alcoholic drink last night to celebrate the occasion because she no longer need her meds. Hooray for being plant-based!
Everyday, Diana?! That’s amazing! Keep it up 🙂 Happy to hear of your and your mother’s health successes last year, and cheers to more to come!
Happy (belated) vegiversary! Your fuzzchild is adorable! 🙂
Thanks, Rachel!
Hey, I have a quick question I wanted to ask you about your blog, do you think you could send me an email when you get this? Thanks! Tiffany
